Encounters 1.

I’d like for you to pray for me
to the God who eavesdrops on
church tops, and roof tops, in alleys
and streets alike,
who hovers and roams
and is everywhere and in everything.
the God who embraces the lowly
and the tarnished, cupping them into
the beds of His palms.
I have listened out for Him many times
hoping to see Him in everything too.
shamefully I come with my hands
barren tools of wrong,
I never kept their sacredness
their holiness
that they could be used to shake
another’s hand,
hold another,
“I missed you”.
to pat a back
“I am proud of you”
to hold the door
to open it
to hold you back
to keep you.
I had sinned against my hands
I never used them for their purpose
these two tools of wrong.
so I would like for you to pray for me
to this God,
whom as a girl I had envisioned had ears
as big as Dumbo,
whom I thought I’d trick by learning to whisper
so low only my soul could make out the
Pray for me
to The God who has spread himself across eternities
never forgetting Nows,
and Mes
and Yous.
.If not then teach me how
how to kneel
and place my heart in my palms
and offer them upward
surrendering to divinity
and accepting that I am but a tiny fraction
Wide-eyes please
Help me give myself in,
for the sake of my broken hands
these barren tools of pain
I can no longer let them down
nor the backs they forget to pat,
the hands the forget to link with
and help along.
Let them forgive themselves
and me,
teach them finally to pray.

Music- Lyrics for Landfill by Daughter

My roommate sent me an album on Spotify and I was completely enamored. I hope you all know Spotify , if not please download it this very moment at I am a firm believer in Spotify and how it is the best place to listen to the best music. I have found myself rocking out to a compilation of random music I prolly would never be able to find on any other radio site. I am serious, I find myself listening to Tracy Chapman on second and the next I am shaking my Booty to a Dancehall song straight from Jamaica. It is bliss. Being an exhausted college student I could use the rock-out session theraphy every once in a while (aka EVERYDAY). I feel selfish for not writing in such a long time, I have a lot to say but I barely have the time to share it, so, I figured I’d update you on what I have been listening to. A couple of songs are favorites on my Spotify, Young the Giant, City and the Colour, Jessie J, Ice Prince, J. Cole, Drizzy Drake, I just discovered a band called Graffit6 that I can’t get enough of. And today my dearest friend just introduced me to Daughter who is an amazing musician, if you are into sorta like mellow indie music that just grips you then you will take to Daughter like I did. I recommend her songs The Woods, Candles, Switzerland and my favorite Landfill. The lyrics are bellow, if the lyrics don’t make you fall in love with her on the spot then there is no musical hope for you. Just kidding. Have a happy Monday world!

Landfill by Daughter

“Throw me in the landfill
Don’t think about the consequences
Throw me in the dirt pit
Don’t  think about the choices that you make
Throw  me in the water
Don’t think about  the splash I will create
Leave me at  the altar
Knowing all the things you  just escaped
Push me out to  sea
On the little boat that you  made
Out of the evergreen
That you helped your father cut  away
Leave me on the tracks
To wait until the morning train  arrives
Don’t you dare look  back
Walk away, catch up with the  sunrise
This is  torturous
Electricity between both  of us
And this is dangerous’cause
I want you so much
But I hate your guts
I  hate you
So leave me in the cold
Wait until the snow covers me up
So I cannot move
So I’m just embedded in the frost
Then leave me in the rain
Wait  until my clothes cling to my frame
Wipe away your tear stains
Thought  you said you didn’t feel pain
Well this is torturous
Electricity  between both of us
And this is  dangerous’cause I want you so  much
But I hate your guts
I want you so much
But I hate your guts
Well  this is torturous
Electricity  between both of us
And this is  dangerous’cause I want you  so much
But I hate your  guts
I want you so  much
But I hate your  guts”
