When truthful

Do not write me off as empty
because alone
is my peace.
I have chosen myself first
because I suffice.

Some days it snows somewhere..

I told myself that I would do away with writing silly love poems
for boys who aren’t yet men,
I am writing more poems about you than necessary,
they are naked apologies
and granulated confessions
and all the grime and grit I let in.
these poems have slithered their way into the ink
of my pens
not even a nicely placed comma
can change me
not even a neatly dressed apology
can make me all that you’ve been looking for you
all you’re ready to love
You are a bad habit and I am a bad addict
We’re all kinds of wrong for each other
We are ash at the end of a cigarette
Not made to last
Made for the bottom of a shoe
Seconds fleeting
time slips under my thigh
the parasitic nature of first love
has me know that you’ll never leave the ink of my
you’ll never leave the brim of my lips
and when you’re finally a man and you’ve learnt
to love back
my pens, my ink, my keys
and my lips will still write of that boy
that boy who tainted my poetry.

Tulip Girl Earrings

Hello folks,
Well it’s almost morning time in Chicago and I thought I’d brighten up your Mondays with a colorful display. So aside from writing I design (not uncommon) and well now I have found a new love for making jewelry. I am the woman with the wild and wide collection of earrings so it was inevitable that I’d take the next crazy step and start to make them myself. And then I thought how could I combine my passions and make this new business venture a reachout initiative, well by donating of course!!

I give you Tulip Girl, my semi-line of handmade earrings that I intend to give half of all the proceeds to a charity in Malawi that deals with helping expectant mothers access clean drinking water, have some of the nutrients required for the growth of their unborn child, gain educational on some child-birthing and infancy and then gain access to Doctors that will deliver their babies safely. In a third world country a high percentage of mothers and babies die during child labor, every child deserves to live and every mother deserves the chance to watch that happen. So please spread the word, this is just a small step but by purchasing one of these pairs of earrings you will help, even if only minimally, in saving a life.

All earrings cost $14 except the button earrings that are $5 a pair.

..Dress Me Up Scotty!

Dresses!! Yay!! Summer is around the corner so I thought I’d just share a pic or two of some of my favorites.

Ladies Summer is around the corner, so I have pulled out my secret stash of dresses. I’m such a girly girl sometimes, I am lost without something pretty in my closet. These are my favorite ones so I gave them a photographic moment. A simple short dress can be dressed  up or down, it is an amazing tool to have folks. I for one will be wearing dresses around the clock this summer unless I find some shorts that complement my figure well enough.:). (By the way if you are sporting a curvaceous physique like mine I must say that stretchy dresses like the gray one are a godsend, they make your rear look divine!! ). 😉
Hope you are having good weeks,
I promise you all I will put up some poetry soon.:)
Love you all,

A World Without Gaga

Celebrate all things you don’t like about yourself-love yourself. Gaga

I set out to thrash Gaga today, denouncing my throne as a Gaga-fanatic so I went on Wikipedia. I had my sites set on finding all the dirt to corroborate my latest decision to dump her. In the first place her outrageous new video “Born this way” did not boil with me. I love that she is always showcasing individuality but I mean there are limits, religion for example is a seriously touchy topic and tackling it like football players tackle each other is just brutal! The horns in her cheeks are also a bit over-the-top and not in a Coco Chanel extravagant way more in a Gaga-needs-a-timeout sort of way. I can except her bisexuality or the fact that she doesn’t wear pants but in my mind she has gone way past my STOP sign and crossed the yellow-tape with that music video. I must admit the lightbulb first turned on in my head when in one of her music videos (Alejandro) she attempted to swallow a rosary. That set off little sparks but “Born this way” oiled the fire so I planned to end this love-hate saga and dump my Lady Gaga (I couldn’t help but RHYME).The Google Goddess was at work but this time it was an angry mission, I was determined to rid myself of all connections to Gaga and I thought I was going to say my final “Ra RA Ooola La”. But then I read a story, her story. Like my all-time favorite Disney Princess ,Pocahontas, said “You’ll learn things you’ve never known you’ve never known” and I did. Her story is a story a little less sparkly than her loud outfits, it was the story of a girl with a dream in the Big Apple. Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta Lady Gaga began playing the piano at the age of four, she has practically wrote songs all her life. She dropped out of University to pursue a music career and with difficulty she managed to make it. I found out that she is philanthropist and an advocate, that this working girl has a big heart to go with her grande talent! And then I imagined a Gaga-less world, where red carpet events wouldn’t be as exciting or leave you by the TV wondering “What’s going to Gaga wear?”, where ‘Glee’ wouldn’t have that special episode where Rachel reconnected with her mother via the songs of our beloved Europop sensation. It was a sad world, though imaginary, a world with less flair and many out of work dramatically creative designers .I’m not saying that I don’t find her exhibition of “religious art” highly offensive. Music is a spectacular thing and Gaga may go a bit overboard but there are some things that can’t be stopped and whether I agree with her music all the time or not there are songs of hers that will always be my ultimate feel-good songs (Just Dance!). Like a boomerang she just keeps coming back to my heart. You don’t have to love all of the songs by an artist, lets face it some of our favorite musicians have made songs in the past that cannot for-the-love-of-Grey’s Anatomy grow on us, in that way I may never like “Born this way” but there won’t be stopping my feet from tapping to “Paparazzi” or my body from imitating her dance moves in “Bad Romance”. I decree that once you’ve been BeGagaed there is no turning back!

BTW: Gaga just took Oprah’s slice of the Forbes Cake by topping the annual chart of the most powerful celebrities.

Lady Gaga topples Oprah Winfrey from her No.1 spot on our list, which she’s given up for only the third time in seven years. Gaga is there not just because of the $90 million she earned with a monster tour, but also because of her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers–aka Little Monsters–who helped move 1 million digital downloads of her recent single “Born This Way” in only five days. They’re also happy to buy the MAC makeup, Monster headphones and Virgin Mobile phones she features in her videos.Forbes

A Good Girl’s Bad Girl

I thought I might introduce my blog. But then again a blog is simply a place where one writes their thought, goals, dreams and the random occurrences of their lives and if they are emotionally injured it might just be where they go to cuss off everything and anything. I am a closet melodramatic Diva whereby ‘D’ might as well be for ‘Dynamite’ but I will not get explosively emotional because lets face it the internet would be a happier place if there was one less drama queen. I will try to be as sane as possible as we endeavour in this electronic journey together. So I thought I’d begin with something or rather someone spicy, Marilyn Monroe.

Every girl has a lady they look up, a woman they’d like to be. And every girl has a woman who is totally opposite from them, a woman they secretly would love to be exactly alike. I would love the courage of my mother, the confidence of our Vice-President (Joyce Banda), the spontaneity of my sister, the humility of Mother Theresa and the list goes on. But that’s not the point, these are all examples of respectable women, good women. Every good girl has a bad girl she wishes she could be. My bad girl is the completely sexy, ruthlessly wild, naturally alluring, all spotlights shined on her once, her name is Miss Monroe. Marilyn Monroe is the sex symbol of all time. She was completely beautiful. I secretly wish I had her carefree attitude, her nonchalance, her sex appeal. She is my ultimate Bad girl.

Here is quote from her:

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”— Marilyn Monroe
